We have had several water bills in excess of $300.00 due to the timers on irrigation/sprinkler systems being set inefficiently, so please check your system as soon as possible to avoid a large water bill.

Many system timers are set to run twice a day at 10, 15, or 20 minutes per station, in which some homes have 5 to 7 stations to water. That is way too much watering!!! Our water meters will allow 14 gallons a minute on average to supply water to your residence. If the installer set your timer to run at the following settings, you could be consuming a very large amount of water for irrigation use only:

Example: If each station is set for 20 minutes x 6 stations = 120 minutes each time the irrigation system runs. 120 minutes x 14 gallons per minute = 1,680 gallons each run. 1,680 gallons x 7 days a week = 11,760 gallons per week, which equals approximately 47,040 gallons of water a month.

As you can see, an inefficiently set timer can put a lot of water on your lawn/flower bed in a week or a month’s time.
