Home Water Audit
Have you ever wondered how much water you are using for specific tasks such as showers, laundry, watering your lawn, etc? Performing your own home water audit can tell you how much you are using, where it’s being used, and it can show you where you may want to conserve water.
To do this simply make sure all water is turned off inside of your home and then follow the steps below:
- Get a piece of paper and go out to your water meter. Write down the numbers that have a line either above or below it. These are the specific numbers that the City of Jarrell reads monthly.
- Take your shower, wash laundry, run your sprinkler system or any other chore that you are needing to do.
- Once you are finished, go back to your water meter and write down the same numbers as you did before your chore.
- Subtract the number you just wrote down from the first number and this will give you the exact number of gallons used.
