Administrative Clerk / Municipal Court Clerk


The City of Jarrell is seeking applications for an Administrative Clerk/Municipal Clerk.

Primarily responsible for completing the Municipal Court Process and assisting the Judge and Prosecutor according to the law and procedures. Assisting customers on the telephone and in person at the cashier’s window, implementing office procedures, and completing related work as required. Attend court hearings. Prepares cases for court, processes judgments, and dispositions, and enters case information into the court software system. Must attend court and Assists Judge and court personnel in the courtroom as needed. Prepares and maintains court files with written documentation, both manual and computerized data entry. Receives payments for Municipal Court fines and fees in the form of cash, check, money order, and credit card. Reviews court files for compliance with Judge’s orders and prepares arrest warrants for issuance in cases of non-compliance. Coordinates the warrant collection program through the collection agency and Williamson County, and accurately completes the process of warrant recalls. Runs routine reports from the court software system. Responsible for submitting timely disposition reports to the Office of Court Administration and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Receives and daily deposits cash receipts and must assemble and present the daily green file to be presented for auditor compliance. Keep in compliance with Legislative updates.

This position performs the activities and duties associated with the Front Office of City Hall, providing excellent customer service to citizens, customers, and other parties. We are looking for a master multi-tasker with excellent communication skills and an upbeat attitude. Candidates should be able to assist all visitors by handling office tasks, providing polite and professional assistance via phone, mail, and e-mail. This position requires cross-training on the utility billing and permitting process; teamwork and aids the other city departments by performing a variety of administrative and organizational functions, including cash receipts, data entry, filing, and other duties as assigned. Proper cash handling, maintaining confidentiality, attention to detail, and accuracy are required.

Salary/Benefits: The pay range is $13.00 to $16.00 per hour; and will depend upon the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The City offers Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance, a 401K Retirement plan, Paid Time Off, and 12 Holidays during the calendar year. Minimum Qualifications:
• HS Diploma or GED
• 2 or more years of relevant work experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain Notary Public certification
• Must be proficient with Office 365 and spreadsheets and accounting software
• Become Certified Texas Court Clerk Level 1 from the Texas Court Clerks Association or must be in the process of obtaining the Level 1 certification within 3 years and complete annual requirements to maintain certification.
• Knowledge of the Municipal Court Process.
• Knowledge of the Utility Billing Process.
• Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver’s License. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driving
